The murder has plunged Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, into deeper chaos, as politicians, business leaders, and powerful gang leaders are fighting for power amid escalating violence and terrible food and fuel shortages. Moise’s widow accused her late husband’s domestic opponents of organizing the killing for political and commercial reasons.
Moses Before his death, he claimed that he was fighting against political opponents and local business tycoons as he tried to clean up government contracts. However, the late President himself was accused of corruption and had close ties to the country’s powerful criminal gangs. He denied these allegations.
After the assassination, Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph (Claude Joseph) has been trying to maintain control. So far, he has been calling on the United Nations and the U.S. military to help guard critical facilities, but without success.
In Washington, President Joe Biden stated that he has ordered the Marine Corps to go to Haiti to defend the US Embassy, but the current idea of sending more soldiers is “not on the agenda.”
International powers are cautious about getting involved in Haiti. After decades of political turmoil and multiple natural disasters, Haiti has been struggling to find stability.
