The Ministry of Health said, that Maharashtra recorded, on Friday, eight new cases of the Omicron type of coronavirus, bringing the total of these cases in the state to 48.

“According to the report presented by the National Institute of Virology today, eight more patients with Omicron have been found in the state,” an official statement said.

She added that among them are six patients from Pune, one from Mumbai and the other from Kalyan Dumbivli (towns near Mumbai).

She added that all eight of the new Omicron patients were male, aged between 29 and 45.
