The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses given in the country exceeded Rs 137 crore on Saturday, the Union Health Ministry said, and more than 69 lakh (692097) doses of vaccine were given as of 7 pm on Saturday.

Vaccination of frontline workers (FLWs) began February 2, and the next phase of the COVID-19 vaccine began from March 1 for people over 60 and those over 45 with specific co-morbidities. All people over the age of 45 as of 1 April.

The government then decided to expand the vaccination campaign by allowing everyone above 18 years of age to be vaccinated from May 1.
