Today, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a fleet of 25 electronic rickshaws, called ‘ETO’ from Noida Electronic City metro station on Blue Line in a bid to ensure improved last mile connectivity for Delhi Metro commuters. The fleet of electronic rickshaws was tagged by Manju Singh, General Manager of DMRC. According to Delhi Metro, these e-cars will run from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM every day, providing last-mile connectivity to locations near Noida Electronic City metro station. Initially, up to 25 ETO rickshaws are being introduced into service from the Blue Line metro station, which will be increased by the end of next month to 100, covering more metro stations in the Noida section of the Blue Line including Sector 62, Sector Noida 59, Noida sector 34, Noida sector 61 stations, etc.
According to the DMRC, the GPS-equipped electronic rickshaws have been specially designed, having a covered cabin as well as a full windshield in order to provide last mile connectivity within a 4 to 5 kilometer area around Delhi metro stations. The rates for ETO services have been kept very nominal at a base rate of Rs 10 for the first 2 km and Rs 5 for subsequent km. Metro passengers can also book vehicles through the ETO mobile app and digitally pay for their rides.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has partnered with a consortium of ETO Private Limited (operator) and GEM Vehicles Private Limited (manufacturer) under its ETO brand name to operate these e-cars from the above metro stations. More information about this service can be obtained by travelers at the helpline number operated by ETO at 18001030975 or by visiting www.etomotors.com. At present, more than 310 electronic passenger cars provide last mile connection service from 34 metro stations across the metro network. To boost passenger last-mile connectivity, the DMRC has also announced the introduction of electronic rickshaws from 13 more metro stations by the end of next month.
