Tata Motors has launched its latest compact SUV in the Indian market, Punch, priced at 5.49 lakh. Tata Punch is India’s safest compact SUV, with a 5-start safety rating from Global NCAP.
After showing its compact SUV concept for the first time at last year’s Indian Auto Show, the automaker put the concept into production. Today, Tata Motors launches Punch in India, a 5-star safety rated compact SUV, priced at 5.49 lakh, former showroom.

The new Tata Punch is available in four different variants – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. Variable pricing for the new Tata Punch is as follows.
The newly launched Tata Punch is built on Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) architecture, helping Tata Motors to integrate many industry-first features, including a safety rating. The Tata Punch is the second car to be built on the ALFA platform, the first being the Altroz. The length of the Tata Punch is 3,827 mm, and the wheelbase measures 2,445 mm.
Tata has not shied away from concept design. The Tata Punch has a similar design language compared to the Harrier and Safari models, with the headlights positioned below the DRLs. Punch also offers a long standing SUV, providing passengers with a commanding stance, similar to its class competitors, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100.
When it comes to features, the new Tata Punch gets a 7.0-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) with Tata’s connected car technology iRA, flat-bottom steering wheel, 6-speaker audio system, and more. Tata Punch doors open at a 90 degree angle for easy entry and exit.
Talk about the safety aspects that make Punch a 5-star safety rated car, ABS with EBD, a brake oscillation feature that detects instability during braking before ABS intervention, reverse parking sensors with camera, angle stability control, and fog lights Cornering, dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors and more.
Moving on to the engine, the Tata Punch is available with a standard petrol engine, a 1.2-liter unit that produces 85 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque, with a kick-start function for improved fuel economy. Tata Motors offers a punch with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox with optional AMT.
