Reliance Jio led by Mukesh Ambani has launched the much-anticipated JioPhone Next, the much-anticipated 4G smartphone, priced at Rs 6,499. The ‘Made for India’ phone will be widely available from Diwali i.e. 4th November. Jio will offer a financing option through which potential buyers can purchase JioPhone Next by paying 1,999 rupees up front and the rest of the amount. Amount in equal monthly installments over 18-24 months.
JioPhone Next is developed by Jio and Google. The phone was originally slated to be launched on September 10 but has been delayed due to the global shortage of semiconductors.

JioPhone Next Prices and Availability
Although JioPhone Next will set you back around Rs 6,499, Jio offers a financing option that it says will make the entry price very affordable and roughly equal to the price of the feature phone. You can get JioPhone Next by paying Rs 1,999 and the balance amount in EMI.
JioPhone Next will be available from November 4th. To purchase the phone, you will first need to register your interest. You can do this in three ways – by visiting your nearest JioMart Digital retailer, the Jio.com/Next website, or via WhatsApp by sending “HI” to 70182-70182. You will receive a confirmation once your unit is available. This must be collected in person from your JioMart retailer.
JioPhone Next Specifications and Features
At its heart will be the Pragati OS software, which is described as a “world class operating system built specifically for India”. It appears to be a customized version of Android created by Jio using Google. The phone will be shipped with Google and Jio apps.
The software experience in JioPhone Next will focus on three aspects: translation, cameras, payment for the latest Android features, and security updates. It will combine features like a voice assistant, auto read screen text aloud that will work with seemingly any text on your screen including web pages, apps, messages and even photos, language translation, a smart camera with Snapchat augmented reality filters and HDR, and more.
Speaking of hardware, the phone will come with a 5.45-inch screen with a resolution of 720 pixels. This will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with an anti-fingerprint coating. Under the hood, it will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 on a chip paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage – and this will be expandable by another 512GB.
The dual-SIM phone will come with an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, a 3,500mAh battery with micro-USB charging, Bluetooth 4.1 and a 3.5mm audio jack.
JioPhone Next will be manufactured at Jio’s Neolync facility in Tirupati and Sriperumbudur.
