A statement issued by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the daily COVID-19 toll in Kerala has continued to fluctuate, with 8,867 people becoming positive on Friday out of 79,554 samples tested in the past 24 hours, and the test positivity rate at 11.14 per cent.

On Thursday, 9,246 people tested positive and TPS was 12.31 percent.

Vijayan’s statement also indicated that 9,872 people tested negative while the total active cases were 94,756, of whom 9.8% were hospitalized patients.

The day also saw 67 deaths due to Covid, bringing the death toll to 26,734.

On the vaccination front, 93.7 per cent (Rs 2.50 crore) of those aged 18 and over received their first dose, while 44.9 per cent (Rs 1.20 crore) received both doses.
