Even as prominent political figures are camping in Karnataka’s Vijayapura district to conduct a by-election campaign for the Sindagi Assembly, the “honour killings” issue is suspected in the same district.

Today, Saturday, police sources said that a man who fell in love with a girl belonging to another religion has gone missing in suspicious circumstances and is suspected of being a victim of “honor” crimes.

The 32-year-old resident of Balaganora in Alamila Taluka is suspected of being a victim of ‘honour’ crimes, as she was allegedly hacked to death in front of her lover by her family and relatives. The sources also said that the killers took his body with them.

The girl was from the same village and a rift occurred between the two families for the same reason. The man’s parents filed a complaint with the Alamila Police about the disappearance of their son.

The police visited the village and launched an investigation, but the sources said that the girl’s family and relatives had disappeared.
