A school principal who allegedly hung a child upside down from the balcony on the first floor of a building has been arrested after photos of the incident went viral on social media.
The accident occurred at the private Sadbhavna Shikshan Sansthan Junior High School at Ahraura in Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh on October 28. The principal had imposed the ‘punishment’ on a grade 2 child for being mischievous.
The child was reportedly pulled only after he screamed and begged for forgiveness, while the other students looked on. One student who was at the site at the time, said the child was held upside down for ten minutes.

After the images appeared on the Internet, a file appeared The Mirzapur District Magistrate had ordered a complaint To be filed against the Director. The police then registered a case against the principal of the school, Manoj Vishwakarma, who has now been sent to prison.
The case was registered on the complaint of the father of the child under Sections 352 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and the appropriate sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
Upon his arrest, the school principal said he regretted his actions.
