Air Chief Marshal VR Chowdhury visited Indian Air Force’s Leh station and forward deployment in Sector North on Saturday to assess the operational readiness of service units. The Chief of the Air Staff also interacted with personnel stationed at the air base and units upon deployment.
In a tweet, the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday said, “Air Force Commander Marshal VR Chaudhary, Chief of Air Staff (CAS), visited Leh Air Force Station and Indian Air Force deployment to forward areas in Sector North on October 16.” The border confrontation between the Indian and Chinese armies on May 5 last year after a violent clash in the Pangong Lake areas and the two sides gradually strengthened their spread by accelerating the dispatch of tens of thousands of soldiers as well as heavy weapons.
As a result of a series of military and diplomatic talks, the two sides completed the disengagement process in the Gojra region in August and on the northern and southern banks of Lake Pangong in February.
Each side currently has about 50,000 to 60,000 troops along the Line of Actual Control in the sensitive sector.
