A central bank official said Bollywood actress Ananya Panday failed to appear before the Drug Enforcement Bureau here on Monday for questioning regarding his alleged WhatsApp conversations with Aryan Khan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was arrested in a drug case.

The National Central Bank had earlier questioned Bandai for two days last week and was summoned again on Monday. The official said she was likely to appear before the DEA around 11 a.m. Monday, but she did not attend the third round of interrogation.

Sources earlier said that Bandai was questioned on Friday for nearly four hours in connection with her alleged WhatsApp conversations with Aryan Khan linked to the case related to the alleged seizure of banned drugs from a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai early this month.

Before that, the 22-year-old actress, who made her Bollywood debut in 2019, was questioned on Thursday for about two hours. The NCB is investigating a cruise ship drug case, in which Aryan Khan, 23, was arrested along with 19 others. Aryan Khan is currently in custody and his bail application is likely to be heard by the Bombay High Court on Tuesday.

The sources said that during the investigation into the case, the central bank found some WhatsApp conversations between Aryan Khan and Bandai. National Central Bank officials wanted to gather more information about the chats, and so they were called.

The central bank confiscated Pandey’s laptop and mobile phone on Thursday.
