Guwahati, Oct 23: The new cases of COVID-19 in Assam continued to exceed 300 for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday when three more deaths from the disease were reported, Guwahati, Oct 23, said the bulletin of the National Health Mission. The positivity rate has remained unchanged at 0.81 percent since Friday. Saturday’s 324 new cases were discovered from 39,768 tests, bringing the state’s total number of coronavirus cases to 60,8126. Three new deaths brought the death toll to 5,967.
The number of new cases has reached more than 300 in the state over the past five days, with a rise of 384 on Thursday. The daily case count was under 300 since October 8 before it was breached on October 19 after an 11-day gap. Among the new cases detected on Saturday, 88 are from Kamrup metro area, 50 are from Barpeta, 18 are from Yurhat and 17 are from Kamrup. The number of COVID-19 patients who die from other causes remained at 1,347. A total of 219 patients were discharged from different hospitals due to the infection, bringing the number of recovered patients so far to 5,98,515, with a recovery rate of 98.37 percent.
The bulletin said that the active cases in the state are 2,621.
