According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rain is very likely in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthita, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki regions.

Several parts of southern districts of Kerala continued to receive heavy rains on Friday, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas and destroying roads as the weather triggered an ‘orange alert’, and very heavy rains forecast, for five districts.

As per the latest update of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rains are very likely in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki districts.

A ‘Yellow Alert’, indicating heavy rain, was issued in five other districts – Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malapuram and Wayanad. Meanwhile, rain water entered several houses and swept away three cars amid heavy rain overnight and floods in Punalur Thinmala district of Kollam district.
