Continuing its efforts to license the railways, the Railways Board has issued an order to shut down the Indian Railways Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) which was set up to redevelop stations across the country. The step is a step to accept the recommendation of the Ministry of Finance, which recommended in a report to rationalize government agencies, either by closing them or by merging several institutions in different ministries. The order issued by the Board of Rail late on Monday said the stations operated by IRSDC will now be handed over to the area’s private railways and the company will pass all documents related to the project to it for further development. Among many other projects, IRSDC, which was set up in March 2012, has been involved in the bidding process for the redevelopment of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai.

The IRSDC recently invited bids for the construction of “Rail Arcade” at the Chandigarh and KSR Bengaluru railway stations. He also announced plans to manage facilities for 90 railway stations across southern India. The report prepared by the Chief Economic Adviser, Sanjeev Sanyal, has also recommended the merger of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), which carries out projects related to the construction and enhancement of railway infrastructure, with Indian Railway Construction Limited (IRCON), an organization specializing in infrastructure construction. infrastructure.
