Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Stoere on his assumption of the post. Norway’s new centre-left cabinet took office on Thursday after the next prime minister introduced a centre-left minority government, a day after a deadly bow and arrow attack in a small town.
Stoer took office after ousting Erna Solberg in the September 13 elections after two four-year terms. In keeping with tradition, outgoing governments were greeted by family members and well-wishers, receiving flowers and Norwegian flags, after a formal meeting with King Harald V on Wednesday, Gahr Stoer and Slagsvold Widom, leader of the Center Party which is Norway’s third largest program, unveiled An 83-page policy program for the period 2021-2025 where climate and environment are among the key areas. In the September vote, Labor, the largest party in non-EU Norway, won the election with 26.3% of the vote while the Center Party came in third with 20.4%.
