Lakadganj police in Nagpur have discovered two basements used to hide sex workers in the red light district of Ganga Jamuna while rescuing an underage girl sold by her mother for prostitution.

According to Amesh Kumar, Police Commissioner of Nagpur City, the minor victim was sold for Rs 20,000 in the sex trade by her mother. However, she managed to escape from there and return to her village.

After that, the mother sold it again for 20 thousand rupees in the red-light district of Ganga Jamuna, and with the help of a customer she was again able to return home.

While trying to sell her daughter for the third time, the minor victim, with the help of her grandmother, arrived at the Lakadganj police station and recounted the entire incident.

According to her testimony, the police raided the place where the girl was forced to work in the sex business. Upon investigation, police found a six-foot-by-four-foot basement in which eight to ten girls hid. Another six-by-two-foot vault was found that was built as a recess in the wall. These two vaults were closed on Friday.

According to Kumar, the girl’s mother first contacted the accused Rajkamal, who bought the minor victim and then sent her to Mangesh, who forced her to have sex. Police revealed the alleged involvement of Mangesh’s wife in the incident.

The victim told the police that she was given injections and drugs so that she did not appear to be a minor. However, after escaping, she arrived at the police station in Nagpur with her 4-year-old child.

The police registered a case in this regard and sent the minor to a correctional home for children.
