Even after death, Kannada film power star and famous TV presenter Puneeth Rajkumar is still a good role model. The actor, who died of a severe heart attack, donated his eyes in the same way as his father, the famous southern actor Dr. Rajkumar. In 1994, he had promised to donate his entire family’s eyeballs after they died. Dr. Rajkumar died of a heart attack on 12th April 2006 at the age of 76.

According to actor Chetan Kumar Ahimsa, a team of doctors completed the eye donation procedure within six hours after his death. The actor tweeted, “While I was in the hospital to see Appu Sir, a medical group came to remove his eyes in a 6-hour window after death. Appu Sir – like Dr Rajkumar & @NimmaShivanna – donated his eyes.” He even went on to urge others to donate by “following in their footsteps and in the memory of Appu Sir”.

Puneeth Rajkumar, a fitness enthusiast, was taken to Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru after complaining of chest pain. This was right after two hours of working out in the gym, according to the doctors who treated him. He died shortly thereafter. His wife, Ashwini Revanth, and two children, Driti and Vanditha, are survived by his wife.

Fans flocked to the hospital complex after learning of the sudden death of the actor, who quickly transcends his father’s shadow to carve out a niche for himself in the Kannada entertainment industry.

Political officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as colleagues in the southern film industry and those in Bollywood, have expressed their condolences over the actor’s sudden death.

A sea of angry fans flocked to the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday night to pay their last respects to their idol. According to a state government decree, the actor’s last rites will take place in the Kanteerava studio, where his parents, Dr. Rajkumar and Parvathamma, were cremated.

A funeral service will take place on Sunday as the family awaits the arrival of his daughter, who lives in another country.
