Chandigarh, October 15: Sukhinder Singh Randhawa, Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, made a surprise late-night visit to police checkpoints near the India-Pakistan international border in Amritsar district, officials said. They said that Randawa, who also holds the portfolio of the Ministry of Home Affairs, on Friday evening conducted the “Nakkas” examination at the Punjab Police in Jagdev Khord in Ajnala, Amritsar.
They added that he had conducted an audit at Nakas in Jagumahal. Officials said Randawa contacted police officials in Al-Nakas.
Randhawa’s visit comes a day after he appealed to the center’s decision to expand the powers of Banque Saudi Fransi within the international borders along Punjab, describing it as a violation of state rights.
