Police arrested a mediator and rescued four girls from a counseling center in Mancheswar district of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The accused, Laxmi Narayan Patnaik, is involved in a sex racket in the name of a counseling centre.
The accused forced a girl to engage in a sex racket after she was offered her job. The girl filed an FIR at Mancheswar Police Station about the incident. The police raided the advisory center and arrested the mastermind of this racket.
Sanjib Satpathi, ACP, District 5, Bhubaneswar said, “A girl filed an FIR at Mancheswar Police Station, which through job offer, Laxmikant forced her to engage in a sex racket. We carried out a raid and arrested the accused. Further investigations are ongoing.”
“A case has been registered at Mancheswar Police Station related to immoral trafficking. It has been directed to IIC to investigate the incident and provide a detailed report as soon as possible,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Das.
The racket has been going on for the past two years in this rental home. The police closed the house. Laxmikant denied his involvement in the case.
“The claim made by the girl is baseless. Here we did income tax and jobs related to GST,” Laxmikant said.
