In a setback to the National Green Tribunal of the Government of Telangana (NGT) in Chennai, on Friday it issued orders against the ongoing work on the Balamur Rangardi Irrigation Project. NGT halted project work citing no required environmental permissions.
NGT has been working on a petition against the project in Telangana for not obtaining any environmental permit. The NGT issued court orders in this regard to stop the work immediately, and the NGT said the AP government objected to it over the same case.

The state government must obtain the required permits including the environment and any other permits the court said.
NGT has also made it clear that it will give permission for Telangana to continue business if it obtains the necessary permissions. The court directed the Telangana government to stop the works immediately. The Constitutional Court has stated that it will give Telangana permission to continue the works only after obtaining an environmental permit from the centre.
