Dhanbad Police has registered a case against Annapurna Devi, Federal Minister of State for Education, over an alleged breach of Covid-19 protocols.

Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar on Saturday ordered the Dhanbad police to file a case against Annapurna Devi, who led the Jan Ashirwad Yatra in August this year.

The order was passed based on a petition by MD Kalam Azad, who alleged that the August 9 Iatra had violated the state’s Covid-19 standards.

The petitioner further alleged that Annapurna Devi and her supporters had gathered in Dhanbad in the name of Jan Ashirwad Yatra, alleging that they deliberately endangered people’s lives.

Abdul Kalam Azad claimed in his petition that even the district administration failed to take appropriate measures in this regard and was unable to restrain the crowd.

Meanwhile, Dhanbad Police, while recording the case, is investigating who were all present at Jan Asherwad Yatra, except for Annapurna Devi.
