The Washington Wizards suffered a panic attack a few days after the opening night of the regular season.

Star Bradley Beal exited the Wizards’ pre-season game against the New York Knicks with a knee bruise in the first half, before failing to return to the field after the break.

Bale played only 9:09 minutes in the final pre-season, scoring five points and adding assists.

Coach Wes Anseld Jr. wasn’t sure how severe the injury was after the match, but kept hoping it wasn’t serious.

“I don’t think it’s a substantial thing, but we’ll wait and see,” said Unseld Jr.

Washington has five days off before the season opener against the Toronto Raptors, giving Bale some time to recover before receiving the information.

The Wizards finished the pre-season 0-4, with winner Julius Randle lifting the Knicks to a 115-113 victory at Madison Square Garden.

In Bale’s absence, Raul Neto scored 25 points, while Spencer Dinwiddie added 17 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Beal picked the All-Star pick for the third time in 2020-21, averaging 31.3 points per game as the Wizards return to play after the season ends.
