Sergio Ramos finally made his Paris Saint-Germain debut in the Ligue 1 clash with Saint-Etienne.

Ramos joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer following his departure from Real Madrid in the summer, after spending 16 years of his career at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 35-year-old had to wait for his debut with the French giants due to a calf injury, but made the starting lineup for Mauricio Pochettino for their league match on Sunday at lunchtime.

What was said in the first appearance of Sergio Ramos with Paris Saint-Germain?

“I am very happy for Sergio, we are all happy to have him here after a few months without being able to play since he signed at PSG,” the Paris Saint-Germain coach told reporters after seeing the World Cup-winning Spain player unscathed in a 3-1 win for his team.

“It’s the biggest step for him, having played 90 minutes today.”

Ramos injury nightmare

Ramos’ appearance against Saint-Etienne marks his first official match since Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final first-leg defeat by Chelsea on May 5.

The Spain international was suffering from tendinitis towards the end of his tenure with the Whites and was still recovering from surgery when he first arrived at the Parc des Princes.

PSG had hoped Ramos would be ready to debut in October, but then picked up a calf complaint that kept him out for a few more weeks.

Pochettino is now likely to facilitate the defender’s return to the fold as his side faces a string of tough matches both domestically and in Europe as the holidays approach.
