Splitscreen co-op may be gone, but cross-play is more vibrant than ever and is definitely a part of Back 4 Blood. Most players, regardless of platform, probably have a friend that they would like to join to kill some zombies.

Crossplay as a whole is very simple in Back 4 Blood, which is available by default in the menu. But there are a bunch of options players have access to when dealing with cross-play, which even includes removing them together if a more exclusive experience is desired. All of these options will be detailed in full below.

Activate cross-play in Back 4 Blood

Anyone who downloads Back 4 Blood for the first time will have cross-play enabled by default. This makes the process much simpler for players who want the option available to play with other platforms.

However, if they want to remove or bring the option back, the first step is to head to the playlist inside Fort Hope. The crossover option will not be found in the normal settings of Back 4 Blood, so be sure to follow this first step. Once players are in the playlist at Fort Hope, they can begin to customize their settings.

When opening the menu in Fort Hope, players will find an option called “Preferences” that contains exactly the desired settings. At the bottom of the preferences menu, there will be an option for Shared Play which can be enabled or disabled right away.

While enabling and disabling cross-play is simple in Back 4 Blood, there is the next hurdle of inviting players from other platforms to join the game. Disabling the preference will not cause any problems. However, there is an extra step of joining different platforms.

How to join or invite players from other platforms in Back 4 Blood crossplay

Back 4 Blood has a friend list based on the single game, curated for anyone who owns the title. When the player first logs in to Back 4 Blood, they are given a user ID with their name and some following numbers.

Those who want to join their friends or invite them on other platforms need to add the unique player name with numbers to their friends list. From there, they can easily join each other in some cross matches in Back 4 Blood.
