Emmanuel Sanders joked this week that he often has to tell Brian Dabul to “go to sleep!” When the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator called him in the evening to describe a new play he had just prepared for the wide receiver.

It’s the kind of commitment, enthusiasm and attention to detail that will give Daboll a head coach job in the NFL in the not too distant future, and why he was instrumental in developing quarterback Josh Allen.

Led by Allen, Daboll’s offensive enters Monday night’s game with the Tennessee Titans who ranked first in the league in scoring and fifth overall while not making it to the top level yet this season.

“He starts at centre-back,” Sanders told reporters. “We’ve got a talented quarterback, we’ve got a smart guy, a guy with a big arm, a guy who can extend play, and a guy who obviously when you’re defensive coordinator you have to plan on him.

“I think we have a great offensive coordinator, he knows how to call him, he and Josh have great chemistry. I’ve met with him more than any other coach in my career, he’ll be in a hot tub and just randomly FaceTime me, and I and I are going to catch up with him for five minutes.” I think he and Josh’s chemistry is great.

“When they work together, they’re usually on the same page. (General Manager) Brandon Bean and coach (Sean) McDermott have done an amazing job bringing the right guys around Josh.”

He mentioned every reason why he entered the season among the MVP nominees in Week 5 when he threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns along with a quick touchdown to lead the Bills to a 38-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs to avenge the AFC last year. Championship game defeat.

The fifth-year quarterback added to his highlight reel in the process with a stunning fourth-quarter hitch on Legarius Snead to convert third and fourth in the fourth quarter, eventually spanning a 12-play, 85-yard run that ended in a decisive Sanders touchdown.

“I told him I was about to get rid of Jordany and go buy some Air Allen shoes,” Sanders said. “That drive was crucial and really showed me who he is, you want to talk about a guy with that mamba mentality, just like ‘All I have to do is go down and sign up for this game to put the game away, I saw that in him while driving.

“He took matters into his own hands, even in third place when he jumped over that guy. And it shows what kind of guy he is, he’s an outstanding player.”

The victory over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs comes with a welcome caveat when it comes to not losing sight of the big picture.

It’s the message that a player drives from Sanders’ experience and success as he prepares for Buffalo’s trip to Nashville.

“This is the challenge,” he added. “We beat the Chiefs on the road and then we have a farewell week coming up, that’s the story, everyone has to stay focused, we have another tough game, we should play another great team at the Titans on Monday night. Football, on the road and who knows, You may be hostile or not, that is the test.

“We have to think about where we want to be at the end of the season, so stay locked up and stay focused. From a team standpoint, coach McDermott does a great job letting the players talk to the team and talk leadership and just from hearing everyone talk and talk, I feel like we have guys Adults on this team so I feel like everyone is locked in the game.

“I feel like everybody’s talking, everybody’s keeping perspective.”

One of the few flaws in the 2020 Bills season came in the form of a 42-16 defeat to Tennessee in Week 5, where Ryan Tanehill threw three touchdowns and ran elsewhere while Buffalo handicapped himself with three turnovers.

“I feel like that’s the same narrative that happened last week against the presidents,” Sanders continued. “That loss last year didn’t do the same damage to the Chiefs but people still remember it so obviously we reviewed that movie and talked about that game and how we can improve.”

The Titans arrived 3-2 and lead South Asia with a 37-19 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars that saw Derek Henry dash for 130 yards and three touchdowns.

Mike Frapel’s squad is set to be boosted by the return of wide receiver Julio Jones after missing two games with a hamstring problem, while AJ Brown is listed as a questionable buildup due to illness.
