Kick It Out plans to hold urgent talks with Newcastle to ask the club to discourage fans from wearing fake headgear following the takeover by the Saudi-backed consortium.

A large number of fans wore tea towels and other head coverings for Sunday’s game against Tottenham at St James’ Park – the club’s first since the new owners took over.

The fans’ actions are seen as a misleading display of support for the new Newcastle owners.

Kick It Out offers fans educational workshops in the Northeast to explain why this is considered culturally stereotypical and offensive.
