Paris Saint-Germain is back in play at the Parc des Princes in Paris and has a chance of a sweet revenge if the club can hand defending champions LOSC Lille another defeat.
Last season, Lille overtook Paris Saint-Germain to claim the Ligue 1 title by one point, interrupting a string of three consecutive league titles for the Parisian team. But Lille struggled after losing several key pieces and their league-winning coach during an off-season, finding themselves behind leaders PSG after just 11 games (10th place). A loss in Paris would erase any last hope for Lille stepping up as a final push to defend his title.
However, a Lille win would have the opposite effect of getting PSG in a vulnerable moment with several key players absent through injury or suspension. The big loss is star striker Kylian Mbappe (an ear injury), who scored five goals and four assists in 11 Ligue 1 matches. Lionel Messi also missed training on Thursday after taking a knock, but he will start in the role of nine false-attacker.

PSG’s choppy defense will have to face Ligue 1’s top scorer: Canadian striker Jonathan David (seven goals in 11 games). American winger Tim Weah will also start on the bench at Lille, who managed to defeat Paris Saint-Germain in the one-time Champions Cup 1-0 to start their 2021-22 campaign.
Sporting News will follow the match live, providing score updates, commentary and highlights as they become available.

(all times east)
14 minutes: What a ball of Burak Yilmaz for Jonathan Aykon who can’t transform with Gigi Donnarumma at his mercy. Lille got the early chances, but he can’t convert.
12th min.: Lille has an attack-minded squad and once the visitors win the ball, they flood the attack with numbers. But the midfielders don’t make the right passes (or the PSG defenders do a great job).
5th min.: It was back and forth with twists going both ways. Reinildo stops one of them for PSG with an intervention that sends Angel Di Maria to the ground. He got yellow for stopping an attack, but the left-back got the ball all the way. This was not the correct call by the ref.
first minute: What a rescue for Gigi Donnarumma! A quick transition led by Lille led by Jonathan Aykon, and striker Burak Yilmaz with a shot from the starting point, the Italian goalkeeper must dive to stop a corner. Nothing comes of it.
first minute: Lionel Messi starts the match. Paris Saint-Germain ball to start.
