Pep Guardiola is free to take charge of Manchester City’s Premier League trip to Newcastle on Sunday after a negative PCR test was re-tested.

Guardiola had to take a PCR test after a lateral flow test showed an inconclusive result when he arrived at City’s training ground on Friday.

The former Barcelona coach traveled to Catalonia this week to attend a press conference Sergio Aguero’s retirement at the Nou Camp.

A 10-day isolation period would have kept him away from the match at St James’ Park as well as a visit to Leicester City Boxing Day.

Manchester City won seven consecutive Premier League games, thrashing Leeds 7-0 in the middle of the week, and Guardiola urged his side to keep up the momentum against Newcastle.
