The US men’s national team is capping off a fantastic year with a friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday.

In 2021, the USMNT won the Gold Cup, the CONCACAF Nations League, and finished second in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying table. The team beat rivals Mexico three times in the calendar year and won 16 times, with only three draws and two defeats.

The US has never won 17 games in a single calendar year, already matching the program records set in 2013. It has never been undefeated in two games against Bosnia: a 4-3 win in 2013 (Josie Altidore hat-trick) and a. 0-0 draw in 2018.

The year-end friendly will feature players almost entirely locally, with three players plying their trade abroad: Johnny Cardoso (Internacional/Brazil), Taylor Booth (Bayern Munich II/Germany) and Brian Reynolds (Rome/Italy).

For Bosnia, the process of licking their wounds begins after they lost at Euro 2021. The entire roster consists of domestic call-ups to the Bosnian First Division, with a total of eight major international matches among the 19 selected players.
