“College GameDay” somewhat breaks with tradition with its Week 7 destination, heading to Athens, Georgia for the second time in three weeks to preview the day’s only ranked and undefeated game: No. 11 Kentucky at Georgia No. 1.
Davis, Kirk Herbstreet, Lee Corso, Desmond Howard, David Pollack & Co. will review their fourth game featuring the SEC team this season, and their third game featuring Georgia. It is also the first time in history that the show has previewed the events of the week from Sanford Stadium; “GameDay” did it earlier this season when it was no time. 8 visited Arkansas between hedges.

It wasn’t a match that many expected to be undefeated and ranked ahead of the season. Georgia could have lost to No. 3 Clemson to start the season in Charlotte, NC, and no one expected the Wildcats to start 6-0 for the first time since 1950. The Wildcats’ offensive, led by quarterback Will Levis, cut their work against the Bulldogs. In the previous two “GameDay” games this year, they had limited opponents just for a field goal.
However, Saturday’s match is an intriguing rivalry in the East SEC that will directly affect the divisional race. The closest team in the standings is Tennessee (4-2, 2-1 in a SEC game). Saturday’s game winner would take a big lead in the standings, although Bulldogs are strongly favored; Kentucky has also lost three previous encounters against them when both teams were ranked.
But then, no one expected the Wildcats to top 10th at Florida and LSU in straight weeks either. With that said, here’s everything you need to know as ‘College GameDay’ is making its way to Athens, Ga:
Where is ‘College GameDay’ for Week 7?
- Location: Athena, JA.
- the match: No. 11 Kentucky in No. 1 Georgia
Jim Day will make her seventh-ever visit to Athens, Georgia, on Saturday and the second in three weeks. This is the first time ever that the show has visited Sanford Stadium more than once in a season, and the first time since the fourth and tenth weeks of the 2020 campaign that they have visited the same venue twice in one year. Alabama beat 2-seeded Georgia and 22nd Auburn in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in those games, respectively.
The Bulldogs are 4-2 all-time in the “College GameDay” home matches after their 37-0 win over the then-number. 8 Arkansas in Week 5. Georgia is 3-1 when the top-ranked team is, as is against the Wildcats.
Kentucky has appeared on the show only once before, in 2007, when 14th in Florida beat 8th in Kentucky 45-37 in Lexington.
