The Gators announced that Louisiana coach Billy Napier is the team’s next head coach.

Napier, a former assistant under coaches like Clemson’s Dabo Sweeney, Alabama’s Nick Saban, and Florida’s Jimbo Fisher, among others, will jump into the Power 5 for the first time in his coaching career.
The change comes after Florida was elected to move on from Dan Mullen, who was sacked after a 24-23 loss to Missouri. It was the latest streak of extended misery for the Gators, which saw them lose three straight to LSU, No. 1 in Georgia and South Carolina before surviving FCS rival Samford, 70-52.
Mullen went 34-15 in four seasons in Florida, starting with seasons 10-3 and 11-2 in 2018 and 19, respectively. The Gators were a shoe thrown away from the competition with Alabama in the SEC 2020 Championship game on the College Football Playoff as well; After that crash, the Gators went 5-9 under Mullen.
This is the challenge facing Napier in Gainesville. With that, Sporting News explains everything you need to know about the next Gators coach:

Billy Napier’s Training History
Napier has only four years of head coaching experience, but he has done a fine job building Louisiana’s football program to become a permanent competitor at Sunbelt. He took charge of the Ragin’ Cajuns program in 2018, and led the team to the Sun Belt West Division title and scored 7-7 in his first season. The team suffered three consecutive losing seasons before Napier’s first season in Lafayette, Los Angeles.
Next, Napier led the program to a record 11-3 and a berth in the 2019 Sun Belt Championship match, losing 45-38 to the App State. In 2020, he led the Ragin’ Cajuns to a record 10-1 and another Western Division title, but was unable to play Coastal Carolina in a conference title match due to COVID-19. Louisiana is 11-1 through 12 games in the 2021 season and is scheduled to face App State in the conference title game on Saturday.

Prior to taking his position at Louisiana, Napier worked as an assistant under some of the top college football coaches. This includes stint as offensive coordinator for Sweeney and quarterback coach at Clemson from 2009-10 (at 29 years old, he was the youngest offensive coordinator at Power 5); Analyst at Saban in Alabama 2011; Tight ends for the Fisher national team coach for Florida State in 2013; and Saban’s receiving coach from 2013-16 (Crimson Tide played a playoff every year from 2014-16 and won the title in 2015).
It was Napier’s last stop before taking up his role in Louisiana as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Arizona State in 2017.
Billy Napier’s Offensive Chart
according to 2018 Feature From SI’s DealerNapier installed “a shortened version of the Alabama Knuckle System, a single-back attack with professional alignment that can operate at varying speeds.”
“The running attack game is mostly drawn from longtime Alabama assistant Joe Pendry, and its passing game comes from Lane Kevin’s attack. The plot includes some air raids from his 2017 mission under former Sun Devils coach Todd Graham, and he borrowed Jim McElwain’s tactics to teach and teach passers-by…”
Napier, who also coaches his quarterbacks, has seen massive offensive success leading Rajin Cajones since 2018. This includes one 3,000-yard lane and two 1,000-yard sprinting strikers. Here’s how Napier’s offense has built up nationally since 2018:
