Presto It is an open source, distributed SQL engine for online analytical processing that runs in clusters. Presto can query a variety of data sources, from files to databases, and return results to many BI and analysis environments. Furthermore, Presto allows querying of data where it is located, including Hive, Cassandra, relational databases, and private data stores. A single Presto query can aggregate data from multiple sources. Facebook Presto is used for interactive queries against several internal data stores, including the 300PB data warehouse.

The Presto Foundation is the organization that oversees the development of the open source Presto project. Facebook, Uber, Twitter, and Alibaba founded the Presto Foundation. Additional members now include Alluxio, Ahana, Upsolver, and Intel.
